Heat Moisture Exchangers (HMEs) are tested to last 3 to 7 consecutive nights and perhaps up to 30 days.  To help prolong the life of your HME, we suggest it be removed after each use and stored in a sealed baggie or sealed container and stored in a cool place, preferably a refrigerator, if available.

You'll want to change the HME when it stops delivering the moisture level you need, so you may want to keep at least one spare HME for use, especially when traveling.
